There are 3 Types of GST Type 1: CGST (Central Goods & Service Tax) Type 2: SCST (State Goods & Service Tax) / UTGST (Union Territory Goods & Service Tax) Type 3: IGST (Integrated Goods & Service Tax) CGST & SGST are applied when sale and purchase is in the same state. For eg if goods costing Rs 50000 is sold within the state, and if 12% GST is applicable on the product, then 6% (Rs 3000) will be CGST & (Rs 3000) 6% will be SGST. IGST is applicable is sale or purchase is done out of the state, or between 2 states. In case of IGST for the above given case, 12% IGST will be applicable, and later govt will divide 50% of total IGST collected within all its states. Hence, CGST & SCST are inter-state, and IGST is intra-state.
